About

Hi, I’m Katie Marie

I’m a mother, writer, ministry leader, student, survivor, and woman learning what it means to follow God through the beautiful, painful, complicated, and often unexpected parts of real life.

For years, I thought my story was something I needed to survive. Now I am beginning to understand that it is also something God can use.

Welcome to Real Life with Katie Marie—a space for honest stories, authentic faith, healing, growth, and the messy beauty of becoming.

Here, I share what I have lived, what I am learning, and what God continues to teach me about trauma, relationships, motherhood, rebuilding, boundaries, forgiveness, spiritual formation, and finding purpose in places I never expected.

Why I Created This Space

My life has not followed a simple or predictable path.

I have walked through an unsafe marriage, divorce, single motherhood, custody battles, grief, financial hardship, housing instability, broken relationships, and the long process of rebuilding a life after trauma. I have lost people, places, possessions, plans, and versions of myself I once thought I needed.

But I have also experienced the faithfulness of God in ways I might never have known otherwise.

He has met me in the wilderness. He has provided when I could not see a way forward. He has taught me that forgiveness does not always mean reconciliation, boundaries can be biblical, healing is rarely linear, and freedom sometimes begins long before our circumstances change.

Somewhere along the way, the question shifted from:

“God, why is this happening?”

to:

“God, what are You going to do with it—and what are You teaching me here?”

That question is at the heart of this space.

What You’ll Find Here

This is not a place for perfectly packaged answers or a carefully curated life. It is a place for truth, grace, thoughtful conversation, and faith that has been tested in real life.

You will find writing about:

  • Faith in wilderness seasons
  • Healing from trauma and unhealthy relationships
  • Motherhood and family life
  • Boundaries, forgiveness, and accountability
  • Rebuilding after loss
  • Spiritual formation and emotional health
  • Trauma, the brain, and the ways our experiences shape us
  • Finding purpose in the parts of our stories we never would have chosen

I am especially passionate about helping individuals and churches better understand trauma, abuse, complex relationships, and what meaningful support can look like for survivors and their families.

My story may be the doorway into this space, but it is not the final destination. My hope is that what God has taught me will become a roadmap, a source of encouragement, or simply a reminder to someone else that they are not alone.

Still Becoming

I am not writing from a place of having everything figured out.

I am still healing. Still learning. Still raising children. Still pursuing my education. Still rebuilding. Still asking difficult questions. Still discovering how faith, psychology, trauma, neuroscience, ministry, and spiritual formation intersect.

Most importantly, I am still becoming the woman God has called me to be.

I believe our pain does not have to be wasted. I believe God can bring purpose from the places that tried to destroy us. I believe we can tell the truth about what happened while still pointing toward hope, redemption, and freedom.

And I believe there is room for both faith and hard questions.

You’re Welcome Here

Whether you are walking through a wilderness season, rebuilding after loss, healing from trauma, questioning what comes next, or simply longing for a faith that can hold the truth about real life—you are welcome here.

You do not have to have it all together.

Neither do I.

We can keep showing up, telling the truth, making room for healing, and trusting God with what comes next.

Real life. Real faith. Real healing. Real growth.
